I am from Chicago, I just went to Mizzou and then stayed an extra 6 months before moving down to Florida. I ended up nannying for an AF family in Florida (both are pilots= crazy schedules) for two years, and it was with them that I ended up in Okinawa when they PCS'd! I LOVE Okinawa. I seriously didn't want to ever leave, and I am praying that is where our next station will be. I know people either love it or hate it, and it seems like you are loving it so far :)
Oh my goodness, EVERYTHING was my favorite. The aquarium, going up to the military-only resort, hiking Hiji falls, glass blowing south of Naha, shopping in Naha. I even loved the horrible pineapple farm...I mean, the pineapple carts were pretty cute though! And the food!! I loved trying everything, even when I didn't know what it was. We lived out by Cape Zanpa, around a half mile from Zakimi castle ruins (well, of course the family I nannied for still lives there).
I agree! Fabulous!
